The Alarm.com image sensor for 2GIG is a PIR motion detector with a built in camera that automatically takes pictures of alarm events and sends them to your phone for immediate visual verification. Images are transmitted through the Alarm.com cellular connection so broadband Internet is not needed. Requires the Gold Interactive package, as well as updated 1.10 firmware.

During installation, you may get an error saying that initialization is incomplete. If you encounter this issue, please email us at customerservice@suretyDIY.com with your account information, asking us to resend the image sensor rules.

A really great feature once you have it up and running (I’d give it 5 stars for that aspect), the Image sensor is more of a bear to get set up then most other 2GIG equipment (I’d give it three stars on that end).

A few frequent hick ups: It requires you have a XCVR2 transceiver in your panel (adding this is sometimes a forgotten part of set up); I’ve heard running a cell phone test, as required, after you’ve added it in to your panel can take longer than expected or fail the first few attempts; and the biggie: Rules don’t always confirm correctly, if this happens you need to ask your provider (hopefully, suretyCAM!) to resend the rules command (this solves most people’s issue with set up).

We’ve got one in use that I really like. Its nice to have documentation on whoever is setting off the alarm at that particular entry point, and to be able to peak in during the day, without the full expense of adding another camera. Love utilizing it as part of my system.
