powering the IQ Remote

Has anyone come up with an elegant hidden solution to power the IQ Remote? I’m thinking of wiring a new recessed single gang box with a 2A USB outlet rather than trying to conceal the standard power supply.

Has anyone tried powering these via a USB outlet?

Will the wallmount bracket screw locations work with a standard single gang box?

Will the wallmount bracket screw locations work with a standard single gang box?

Well, the wall bracket is not shaped to go over a gang box, but there are holes set wide enough to be screwed down on either side, and the panel may be just large enough to cover top to bottom a recessed usb outlet.

We have not tried this suggestion, but I would expect it should work fine.

How long is the power cord for the Iq remote? Is there a terminal block for connecting standard 18/2 wire to power he IQ remote?

The IQ Remote just has a barrel connector power input, however the QW9104 (newest model) comes with a 7VDC transformer instead of 5 and allows a longer power cable run. You can lengthen the cable by splicing on 18/2.
